“Family history is more than names and dates—it is the story of where we come from, the values we inherit, and the legacy we choose to preserve.”

Hello! I’m Emily Smith Jones and I would like to welcome you to the Smith Mickey Reunion Website. The Reunion started in the 1930’s when the children of my great great grandfather, William Burley Smith, would get together. These reunions took place in various places as different family members would host. The reunions continued even after that generation was gone. The next generation of my great grandfather, Charley Walker Smith, and his two sisters Sallie Mickey and Julia Mickey, continued the tradition. A yearly reunion was held in the Community of Sandhill, Texas, Glen Rose, Texas, and Barwise,Texas, depending on who volunteered to host it.

As that generation passed on the reunion continued with the children of Charley Walker Smith and Sallie Mickey in West Texas. Julia and her family had settled in New Mexico. The trip to Pie Town, New Mexico for a reunion is a favorite family story.

Through the years as that generation left us the Smith Mickey Reunion has continued yearly by finding a home at Ceta Glen Canyon Camp in the 1970’s. Each year we meet together experiencing all the beautiful camp has to offer. We enjoy time together telling family stories and history, playing games, swimming, hiking, and singing at our Saturday night campfire under the stars. We have many wonderful activities planned and we hope that you will plan to join us!
